Celebrating Recovery!

Most are not aware of several triumphs in my recent past.

I am celebrating 1 YEAR free from self medication and self harming habits!

Without sounding like i'm accepting an award, i would like to take a moment to say thanks...

To Duane, my best friend, who stood by me when i couldn't even stand myself.
To Mom and Dad, who will always be everything to everyone!
To My Kids, you will always be worth fighting for!
To Myself, Yeah... You ARE awesome!

And mostly, to My GOD, without YOU... i can't even imagine where i might be...

Thanks to each of you and so many more... for being my EVERYTHING!

Dinah's Birthday Party!

It was filled with fun, excitement, food... and of course... giggly girls!

These are her BFF's from school... her life wouldnt be complete without them!

Thank you for sharing in this day of all days!
Few may know and fewer understand why today is special.
Five years ago today I gave birth to a beautiful red-headed little boy.
His name is Harold Brian Deats.
We call him Hank. Hank was Born To Heaven. He is my blessed little angel. Though I never got to know what he would be like or see him grow... he changed my life. You see... I may have lost one little boy here on earth... but i gained two in the long run. One day i will re-unite with my little angel Hank... but for now i get to experience the miracle of Isaac!  You see... if Hank had been born into this life, we wouldn't have had Isaac and i wouldn't trade them for the world! Do i still miss my Hanky-Spanky boy? Yes! I miss him dearly everyday. Have the past 5 years been tough? YES!!! Harder than anyone will ever truly understand... but today for the first January 19th in 5 years... i woke up with a smile! Today i feel entirely blessed...

Happy Birthday Hank!!! You are missed, you are loved, and we are excited to greet you one fine day! For now, take care of Grandpa Jim, Grandma Mastin and Grandma Katie... dont drive them too crazy running around Heaven! And say thanks to Jesus for everything these last few years have brought... the good and the bad...

We broke the rules yesterday and had a night of family fun playing baseball in the living room!

My Dinah grew up... in a week!

These are a couple of recent photos that i found hilarious and disturbing side-by-side...
The first is a week ago... See how sweet Dinah is kissing my (slightly chubby) cheek?
The second is this last weekend... See how far way Dinah is sitting from all of us in the theater?

Is this a sign of things to come? Has she started already being embarrassed to be seen with us? ...

NOT! 5 minutes into the movie she was sitting on my lap! But looking back at the pictures makes me realize how little time i really have before that moment does come...

To my (not-so-little) girl,

Dinah... you are and forever will be my hero! You shine with a light straight from Heaven and though you drive me crazy at times... I wouldn't trade a moment spent with you!
